Univision Tampa Bay reporter Alexis Boentes Arias won an Emmy on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at the Suncoast Emmy Awards. Boentes was recognized for his writing in the news story ‘Joyas y Guerreros’.
The story was shot in Tampa but it discusses the transference of goods that are considered “outdated” in the United States into Cuba. Cuba is well known for having cars that date back to the 1950’s that are in perfect working condition. Alexis interviewed Cuban locals who send old car parts to the Island in an effort to help the people in Cuba maintain their cars.
